How long's the rainy season(s)? If there's no sales tax, where does the state/local governments' revenue come from? What's with the no pumping your own gas law? Anything else that's important to know about living in or around Portland, like good vs. bad parts of the metro area? Thanks.

Portland, Portland, Portland. Home of the (mainly) Democrats, and wonderful people. Portland is a lively city, and it's rainy season include October, November, December, January, February, March, and April. Occasionally there is snow, but mostly rain. The rain is vital to the state because it keeps it so green. Mt. Hood is a very close Mountain to Portland for those interested in hiking, skiing, or camping. Portland is home to many new ideas, like the gas pumping law. I have no idea why we can't pump our own gas, we just don't. I think that portland is a really great place, you will enjoy it.
Best wishes,
