What kind of bug lives in South Carolina, and when it stings, leaves behind a soft-ish stinger that's dark at one end and light at other end? My mother was stung while walking through the grass in sandals and says she's in a lot of pain. She didn't see the bug, but removed the stinger and put ice on the bite. There is no mark at all on her skin, she says, and the pain comes in waves. It's been hurting for a few hours now, and she says the pain is worse than a bee sting. She reports no other symptoms. Anyone know what this could be?

I think your mom should get to a doctor or even an emergency clinic or hospital. There are numerous poisonous bugs and spiders in your area. Its b es tto get it looked at to make sure it wasnt something that could possibly harm your mothers health.
