Seeing as Superman is always wearing a cape, would this drastically provide a drag coefficient?
If so, would his powers of super speed and such allow him to reach escape velocity even with this considerable surface area of drag?
I know that Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster would never intentionally publish misleading information in the documentary series of Superman, but it would be nice to know the true answer.

Yes, a cape would provide a good amount of drag.
However, when I was a very little boy, I saw Superman fly so fast that he actually turned back time and saved Lois Lane's life (er.. I think that's why he did it). If can somehow fly fast enough that relative time ceases to exist, he could reach Earth escape velocity. Probably the Sun's escape velocity.
