I typically am drawn to the pony track, however recently my interests have been peaked over football and other bets. I am having a little trouble sorting through all of the information though. I have a basic understanding of moneyline bets... but what is a good explanation of spreads and over/unders? Which are the easiest to pick- and where should a newbie like myself focus?
Also, I visited http://www.predictem.com/cfb/staff.php and am having trouble understanding what they mean by: Boston College -2 (Win), or Oregon State +2.5 (Win), or Kentucky/Florida UNDER 47.5 (loss)- point spread/moneyline? It looks like they won their Boston and Oregon bets, but lost the Kentucky/Florida. If I wanted to figure out how much money I would be up or down had I followed every one of their bets, betting $ 100 every time, how would I calculate that?
Any help would be awesome!
Thank you,
Ryan

A spread is adding or subtracting points to a particular team. Betting on Boston College -2 means you'd subtract 2 points from their score. If they won the game 21 to 20, you'd actually lose the bet, because you subtract 2 from their score.
For Oregon State, you'd add 2.5 points to their score.
On the Kentucky Florida game, the over/under is betting the total amount of points scored in the game.
On these bets, it's typically betting 110 to win 100.
A money line bet on a favorite would be shown as something like -180. That means you bet 180 to win 100. The underdog might be +150, so a $ 100 bet wins $ 150.
