Bed bug traps

Bed bug traps

According to bed bug research, bed bugs have a life span of near about one year. An adult bed bug lives to see three generations of their family. This means that you have to be on a bed bug look out for over a year. If you have got pest control done for bed bugs once, it does not mean that you are bed bug free for a lifetime. A bed bug can survive without food for a long period of time. They may lie low during the pest control process. A bed bug lifespan can be completed once the effect of the pesticides comes to an end. Encasing the mattress border or the bed legs with double sided tape is an age old technique used as bed bug traps.

The bed bug colonies are hard to detect and to eliminate as well. You may not even notice bed bug presence in your house until the day when you wake up in the morning and find yourself having rashes that you cannot explain. Also stains on your bed sheet would suggest bed bug presence.

If you keep an eye on the above mentioned symptoms, it would help you in early detection of bed bugs. After you have established bed bug presence, it would be wise to employ a professional help for their control. Instead of using the potentially harmful pesticides on your own, it is better to get it done from someone who has good knowledge of the pesticide use. The pest control process involves the following things:

Treatment of all the beddings and drapes to hot water and antiseptic liquid.
Thorough vacuuming of all the furniture, headboard, floor board. Proper disposal of dust bags after the cleaning.
Encasing the mattresses with anti bed bug encasement. It creates a bed bug barrier between the bed bugs and the mattress.
Encasing all the things that you cannot wash in air tight polythene bags for a long period of time.
Spraying the house with pesticides.
Bed bug treatment to pets.

Assume that you do not have bed bugs in your home. What would be a bed bug trap then? Mattress casing, spraying pesticides, and keeping everything clean would act as a bed bug trap.

For bedbugs bed bug traps were not developed for a long time. Wan-Tien Tsai discovered a homemade bed bug trap because of which bed bugs were lured out of their hiding place. She made this trap with the help of some dry ice.

There are bed bug monitors available as well. Therefore, one has to keep an eye on their symptoms and make sure that the necessary preventive and curative techniques have to be deployed on time.
