Or is he just a nut?
Answer by capixaba
His motives have as yet to be ascertained. Because the investigation is in its early stages and because Loughner is not cooperating with that investigation, we have as yet little reliable information about his motives.
When asking a question like this one, which clearly implies that Loughner was seeking revenge for a vote against an individual often demonized by people taken in by successful corporatist propaganda intended, through a campaign of divide-and-conquer, to defray attention from the exploitation of the vast American populace, please provide a credible source on which you can reasonably base the question. Otherwise, it seems that you are not asking a question but, rather, using the question format to engage in character assassination by gratuitously attacking those whom I would not be surprised to learn you dislike for being liberals or whatever label you prefer. Name-calling, however disguised, is not argument.
Regarding your second question, I am more prone to be sympathetic with it because it does recognize what most people (including me) have excellent reason to suspect: Jerod Loughner is most likely mentally unstable. The term "nut," however, contributes nothing to informed discourse.
Having more or less agreed with your question that labels him as one who is probably unstable, I add that describing Loughner as a "nut" or as mentally unstable does nothing to shed any light on his motives. After all, even mentally unstable people are motivated by something to behave as they do. Consequently, one must not confuse the seldom-productive practice of simply affixing labels with thought and reason.
As an aside, your using the Obama-as-the-Joker avatar does nothing to portray your questions as those of a sincere, rational, mature, and honest person. I suggest something more adult and dignified.
